U.S. processed waste into fuel for garbage trucks
Waste Management announced it will open a plant to convert the gas emitted from waste into fuel for vehicles, which use it to feed his truck to collect garbage. The project will allow the largest operator of U.S. junk to develop a fuel with low carbon dioxide content, which is expected to be widely applied when states like California will begin to put pressure on drivers to cut emissions. The initiative will also allow Waste Management, which already operates the largest fleet of cars to trucks for the rubbish that goes to natural gas, further reducing its dependence on fossil fuels. "(The news) could not come at a better time since the oil and gas prices are skyrocketing," said Waste Management spokesman Wes Muir. The facility - which will commence in 2009 - Fuel will produce "clean" from the decomposition of organic waste, which will be used to power the 300 Waste Management truck. [15/07/2008]
